MOORE — Target plans to build a new store off SW 19 Street in Moore, city officials confirmed Monday.

The store is expected to open in July 2011.  Construction of the 135,000-square-foot store is scheduled to begin in August, said Deidre Ebrey, marketing and economic development director for the city of Moore.

Target purchased 10 acres of land west of the Home Depot for the project, Ebrey said. It will not be a Super Target but will have a grocery department, as well as a Starbucks coffee shop and Pizza Hut.

Target has not yet released details about the new store.

This year, the company plans to open just 13 new stores, a low point in the retailer’s expansion, said Doug Scovanner, Target’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, during a first-quarter earnings conference call in May.  In 2011, Target plans to add about 20 new stores.

Ebrey said one of those stores coming to Moore is boost for retail in the area.

“The new Target … should spur additional retail to open in and around the 19th and Telephone Road area,” she added.
